Larry Ellison briefly surpassed Musk amid Oracle share rally, but Musk now holds the top spot again with a narrow margin
Elon Musk has reclaimed the title of the world’s richest individual after a short-lived surge by Larry Ellison, as reported by recent wealth rankings.
Jonathan Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, saw his net worth balloon by over one hundred billion dollars following a dramatic rally in Oracle stock tied to strong Cloud and artificial intelligence business projections.
At its peak, Ellison’s fortune reached around USD 393 billion—just ahead of Musk’s USD 385 billion—making him the richest person in the world for a brief period.
However, by market close Ellison’s gains had receded somewhat, and Musk edged back into first place with a net worth near USD 384 billion.
Musk’s wealth remains largely anchored in
Tesla, with additional exposure across his other ventures.
Ellison’s wealth is heavily weighted in his 41 per cent stake in Oracle, whose stock advanced more than forty per cent in early trading on the back of strong earnings and optimistic forecasts for its Cloud infrastructure and AI contracts.
While Musk and Ellison continue to lead the pack, others remain distant.
Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos follow, with net worths in the low to mid-USD 200 billions according to the latest rankings.
The recent volatility underscores how closely the top tier of billionaire rankings tracks major tech-driven market movements, especially those related to AI and Cloud services.
Though Musk currently holds the lead, the competition is tight—and future shifts are possible, especially as Oracle’s trajectory and
Tesla’s performance evolve in response to global demand for AI, EVs, and related technologies.
