TIRANA, ALBANIA — Leaders from 47 European nations convened in the Albanian capital for the fourth European Political Community (EPC) Summit, focusing on the theme "New Europe in a New World: Unity, Cooperation, Common Action." This summit marks a significant political moment as it is the first time the event has been hosted in the Western Balkans, illustrating Albania's growing diplomatic role and Europe's efforts to strengthen unity amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The event was co-chaired by European Council President
António Costa and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, centering discussions on security and democratic stability, economic resilience, and inclusive development through innovation, youth engagement, and migration policies.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a poignant address, condemning Russia’s recent proposals for peace as lacking sincerity.
Zelensky asserted that meaningful peace is contingent on Ukraine achieving it, criticizing Russia’s unwillingness to engage constructively in peace talks.
He highlighted unsuccessful diplomatic initiatives in Turkey that failed to yield results and called for a "complete and unconditional ceasefire," urging Western nations to maintain pressure on Moscow.
