KORTRIJK – The well-known café, De Geverfde Vogel, has ceased operations and has been declared bankrupt after 45 years in business.

Located in the vibrant Burgemeester Reynaertstraat nightlife district, the establishment has been a cornerstone of Kortrijk's social scene.

However, it faced significant turmoil following a series of serious allegations related to drink spiking incidents involving more than forty women.

Reports indicate that numerous victims asserted that their alcoholic beverages were tampered with, with several individuals disclosing experiences of assault subsequent to these incidents.

The situation escalated further when the café’s owner, a man in his twenties from Kuurne, was arrested in connection with the incidents.
